Michael Ferrie has 33 years of healthcare technology experience. Michael began his career at Shared Medical Systems (SMS) in May 1984 after graduating from St Joseph’s University with a degree in Finance and Information Systems. He spent his first eight years in development working on a data entry system for the SMS Patient Accounting System. Subsequently, he began working in the SMS mainframe system area to bring remote online processing a reality. Michael worked on the first several remote hosted installs including Memorial Sloan Kettering Center.
Once the SMS’ remote hosted system was stable, Michael worked as a system engineer with hospital sites who wanted to move on premise processing to the SMS datacenter in Malvern, PA. Two significant examples of the in-house to remote conversion process were the hospitals of the City and County of San Francisco and the Department of Health and Human Resources in Baton Rouge, LA. While consolidating and/or closing datacenters, he also worked on hospital infrastructures using Cisco solution products. Michael led the SMS team that achieved Gold Status with Cisco in 1996 - the first ISV to attain this industry-recognized certification. In 1998, Michael then entered technology sales working with Account Executives and New Business reps to help drive system sales while selling the SMS/Siemens Medical technology portfolio. Michael was first in sales achievement six out of seven years in this position and exceeded assigned quota each year. He was promoted to National Sales Director Technology Solutions in 2005. During the period 2005-2015, Michael led efforts to bring numerous offerings into the Siemens Medical technology portfolio. Some of the offerings included EMC, VMware, LRS, Quadramed, McAfee, and Fairwarning. Michael led efforts to completely redo the Siemens Medical/Citrix relationship as the company migrated from Citrix Secure Gateways to the Netscaler platform. With the Cerner acquisition of Siemens Medical IT division, Michael worked at Cerner as a Director of Technology Sales. After voluntarily leaving Cerner in 2015, Michael became the interim CIO at Streamline Health located in Atlanta. While at Streamline Health, Michael managed the technology team. His key objectives and focus were the Internap datacenter contract, re-engineering the install process for ASP applications, updating the company’s computing architecture, and initiating a disaster recovery plan. |
